Climbing Everest, Fowey
Ride and Stride Event Day was held on
Saturday 11th September.   Cycling, walking, riding, jogging, a Drive About, sailing, and even climbing are just some of the ways our Friends raise money for us and their church or chapel on this important day of fundraising in Cornwall.

This nationwide annual event headed by the National ChurchesTrust, is one of the most successful and popular fundraising events of the year, and one that helps restore and protect historic churches and chapels across the UK.

For Event Day in Cornwall, the people of Fowey attempted Mount Everest. The aim was to get as many supporters as possible to climb Fowey Parish Church bell tower (pictured left). Friends at St Martin's Church, Liskeard, (below left) led by David Bonnick, organised a Walk About around the district.   The Revd Tony Seymour with his wife Sandra, cycled 18 miles, starting at St Uny, Lelant and finishing up at Towednack (below right).

Our thanks to all who joined in and raised funds for the Cornwall Historic Churches Trust and their church or chapel.  Special thanks to Murray Gowan, Event Organiser and his wonderful team of Event Friends from across Cornwall who work tirelessly in encouraging churches in their area to participate. Remember, all funds raised in Cornwall are shared between your church and the Trust.  Full details and sums raised will be published Jan 2011
