Mr and Mrs Charles Williams have very kindly invited us to hold this year’s Annual Lunch Party at Caerhays Castle. The Trust is entirely voluntarily supported and helps to restore and maintain Cornish Churches and Chapels of all denominations.
The Trust is assisted by a local body of supporters called The Friends of the Cornish Churches. If you are not already a Friend, do pick up the relevant literature at the party. The price of the ticket covers lunch and all drinks, and we hope to hold a raffle with substantial prizes. Guests will be able to walk round the garden after lunch. As always, we have to limit numbers because of the possibility of bad weather, and tickets will be sold on a strictly ‘first
come – first served’ basis.
CAERHAYS CASTLE has been in the Williams family since 1855 and is world renowned for the stunning 140 acre spring garden. The gardens originated from the work of plant hunters in China at the start of the 20th century. Caerhays bred the very first x williamsii camellias and is today the home of a Plant Heritage National Collection of Magnolias containing over 600 species and named hybrids from around the world.
The castle itself was designed by the famous Regency architect John Nash around 200 years ago and both the building and the two families who have lived and worked at Caerhays have played significant roles in the history of Cornwall.
To visit Caerhays is a truly magical timeless experience.
Please apply as early as possible to avoid disappointment and, in any case, not later than 14th June to facilitate catering. If you can help with this please telephone. If you are unable to come, a donation, however small would help our funds.
Please note that non members (non friends) need to add an additional £20 each to the ticket price which covers a years membership.
