Bravo Maker with Rame!

On 12 September a trio of cyclists completed an 18 mile sponsored cycle ride visiting the 12 churches of the Rame Peninsula raising a total of £360 for CHCT and the Maker with Rame churches.
Over hilly terrain on a windy but sunny day they visited Cawsand Congregational Church, St Andrew’s Cawsand, St Germanus Rame, St John, St James Antony, St Philip & St James Maryfield, Torpoint Cornerstone Methodist Church, St James Torpoint, St Joan of Arc Torpoint, All Saints Millbrook, Millbrook Methodist Church and finally St Mary & St Julian Church Maker.
The team set a new record covering the distance in 2 1/2 hours including a welcome break for coffee and cake at Maryfield, kindly supplied by a team of Maker Church bell ringers. They were down on cyclist numbers this year and intend to advertise more widely next time!
Of note was the brilliant financial support of £9,500 by CHCT to the recently completed £110,000 Maker Church Restoration project which successfully addressed the poor state of the tower pinnacles, parapets and tower roof in May and June this year. The pinnacles and parapets were repointed with the best Cornwall lime mortar, and the roof structure repaired and releaded all to time and cost. All old lead graffiti was cut out and resoldered to the new roof. It’s a sight to belold!
